Forgive me, I haven't been on for a while. I'll be doing some catching up. Christmas, My last summer vacation, 2010. Wow thats sad. A trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium, and maybe even some miscellaneous stuff. The skating season ended a while a go, but I still dream of the biting wind and delicate snowflakes in my hair, at 7:30 on Saturday mornings. I still hear the crunch and slice of my blades, tracing imaginary patterns on the ice. I think of my friends that have become my second family, and the warm skating lodge, my second home. I miss it so much. But now it's summer, and the ice is has been melted for a while, but that doesn't stop my over-active imagination from slipping into a day dream about skating like a star.

last day of skating. My friend, Jaclyn and I.

Winter. Thats my favorite season of all time. Why? You ask. Its because thats when the skating season is, Christmas, and most of all Winter Break!!!!!! It's a time of joy and cheer, a time when families near, your christmas trees are lit up, and many presents show up. You have egg nog and ginger bread cookies. The scent of spices fill the air. The air is cold, but you don't care, because snowflakes are falling from the sky. The earth looks like it has been covered in powdered sugar, and it sparkles in the setting sun. When I was younger my dad would read me "twas the night before christmas" every year. I still sneak in to his office at home and read it. As I sip my hot chocolate, thats overflowing with miny marshmallows, I think Finally Christmas is here.

I know that this is late, well really late, but o just wanted to tell you about my vacation to Sanibel Island, Florida. I step out of the rental car with my best friend, Anna, and immediatley the fishy, salty smell of the ocean hits my nose. I took a deep breath, savoring the beach. I felt the hot sand under my toes, and felt the relief of the nice cool crystal clear ocean. I was in Heaven.

Me looking for shells

My daddy and i walking hand in hand looking for shells. That was a really close moment to God right there. (yes, kiahra i still call my dad daddy too.)

Every where you go you can see a little bit of God, or a little slice of Heaven.

Lately the song, "If I die young" by the band Perry has been on my mind, i've been singing it everywhere I go, well at least humming it under my breath. But it really made me think about what would happen if I died today and everything that I wouldn't get to experience. Would my friends miss me, would I miss them. I love love love love love roses. When I die, which hopefully won't be soon, I want to be buried with a ton of roses, of every color.

if I die young, bury me in satin

lay me down on a, bed of roses

Sink me in the river, at dawn

Send me away with the words of a love song

Uh oh, uh oh

Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother

She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colors,

oh andLife ain't always what you think it ought to be, no

Ain't even grey, but she buries her baby

The sharp knife of a short life, well I've had, just enough time

If I die young, bury me in satin

Lay me down on a, bed of roses

Sink me in the river, at dawn

Send me away with the words of a love song

The sharp knife of a short life, wellI've had, just enough time

And I'll be wearing white, when I come into your kingdom

I'm as green as the ring on my little, cold finger,

I've Never known the lovin' of a man

But it sure felt nice when he was holding my hand,

there's a Boy here in town who says he'll love me forever,

Who would have thought forever could be severed by

The sharp knife of a short life, well, I've had, just enough time

So put on your best boys and I'll wear my pearls

What I never did is done

A penny for my thoughts, oh no, I'll sell them for a dollar

They're worth so much more after I'm a goner

And maybe then you'll hear the words I been singin'

Funny when you're dead how people start listenin'

If I die young, bury me in satin

Lay me down on a, bed of roses

Sink me in the river, at dawn

Send me away with the words of a love song

uh oh (uh, oh)

The ballad of a dove (uh, oh)

Go with peace and love

Gather up your tears, keep 'em in your pocket

Save them for a time when you're really gonna need them, oh

The sharp knife of a short life, well

I've had, just enough time

So put on your best boys and I'll wear my pearls

I love going to the zoo, but mostly the aquarium because I want to be a marine biologist when I grow up. Here are some pictures.

I would like to ask you guys to do a favor for me. If that isn't to much. My grampa, Papa lew, is getting Altzimers pretty bad. Could you please keep him in your prayers so he doesn't forget totally who he is inside. I love him so much, and I hardley get to see him, because they live in west virginia. When I go there, they live on a farm, i love the fresh air and the clean smell. I could just shut my eyes, or look at the clear sky all day. I love the country

  1. Ali I love our writing! To be honest I can totally understand what you are going through with your grandfather. Mine passed away back in April, exactly a week before my birthday. He had diabetes and got so sick that he couldn't remeber some of us. I wasn't able to go down and visit before he left.
I liked the poetic words you put in about ice skating! They went perfectly with your personality.
If I die young isn't played a lot on the radio, but thats a country song! I grew up listening to country and I still do! I was a little suprised that you knew it! I know it by heart too:).
    Amazing post Ali!
